    I´m mexican, but studied elementary school in the U.S. During high school here in Mexico my "english teacher", mexican as well, stated that desert and dessert meant the opposite. Even he pronounced them wrong. I corrected him in front of class and that was it. He failed me because he would´n t recognize his major mistake. What a stupid looser! Of course I went to the principal´s office and after hearing both stories and our allegations I was excused from the class the rest of the semester, with an A+.

    this reminds me of the time when my teacher said the led zeppelin's stairway to heaven was originaly a poem, then the music was added later. i said, "um, i dont think that is correct. i actually believe that its the other way around..." then she yelled, "NO, NO!! stairway to heaven is a POEM!!!"

    There are some morons commenting here. Fact: 1 km = .62 miles. Fact: 1 mile = 1.609344 km. Fact: 1km = 1000m. Anyone heard of the 1600m race in track? It's a mile morons!!! A mile is a greater distance than a kilometer! Mr. Two cents you need to go back to remedial math...seriously you're an idiot 1 mile does not equal 1.62km. Wow! No wonder we are behind in math and science skills as a country!

    Wow...this teacher needs a detention for giving one to a student who was simply correcting her OBVIOUS mistake.
