    You guys are fucking retarded. One kilometer is equal to 0.62 miles. The teacher is correct. Every single person who commented here didn't figure that out. Wow... I still agree, however, that the teacher is a fucking idiot for saying that "Although he was correct..." he was not correct. How can the teacher not figure out she's wrong, then you guys can't figure out she was originally correct.

    The student didn't get detention for contradicting the teacher. He got detention for being rude, calling the teacher a liar and disrupting the class. The proper response would be to suggest the teacher was "mistaken" inclass and if she disagreed say that you'd check it after class than spend the class rolling your eyes and correct the teacher afterwards. I've done it before to teachers and had it done to me as a professional.

    My 3rd grade teacher sent a note home after I challenged her decision to mark me wrong with my spelling of "xylophone". The asshole teacher insisted the word was spelled "zylophone".
