    When I was in year 4 I had a teacher that told the class that Mars had a gravitational force so strong that you would get sucked into the planet. I got told off for saying that it was weaker than earth. Haha.

    The student didn't get detention for contradicting the teacher. He got detention for being rude, calling the teacher a liar and disrupting the class. The proper response would be to suggest the teacher was "mistaken" inclass and if she disagreed say that you'd check it after class than spend the class rolling your eyes and correct the teacher afterwards. I've done it before to teachers and had it done to me as a professional.

    The detention is dumb enough as it is, especially since the idiot that calls his/herself a teacher is wrong. She needs to celebrate 420 & then go back to teachers college

    this reminds me of the time when my teacher said the led zeppelin's stairway to heaven was originaly a poem, then the music was added later. i said, "um, i dont think that is correct. i actually believe that its the other way around..." then she yelled, "NO, NO!! stairway to heaven is a POEM!!!"
